If you are unwell with back pain, notice any of the following very rare symptoms, you should see your GP straight away.

• Difficulty passing or controlling urine
• Numbness around your back passage or genitals
• Numbness, pins and needles, or weakness in both legs
• Unsteadiness on your feet

Attack of back pain

You can use simple methods to deal with the back pain by taking over the counter pain killers such as paracetamol. You may also apply heat or cold to the sore area that may help or control. You can get this done by a qualified professional osteopath or chiropractor to help relieve back pain. Then you may begin to feel the benefit within a few sessions. It is not a good idea to have long term manipulation treatment.

Once you are with a back pain, It will not be easy for you to get your back moving. But, you should try to find activity that suits you and steadily try increasing your level of activity. You should do a little bit more each day if the pain has been restricting your body movements. Do not stay in one position for too long and try getting up and stretching yourself, regularly. You also must take some walks, and try building up your activity as you get stronger.
Back pain and work

You should not be at off work when suffering from back pain. Inactivity and bed rest may increase the chance of disability. So, try to remain active unless your doctor tells you not to.
